Week 9 at Plas y Brenin

  • Cake of the week – chocolate sponge!
  • Interesting Fact – Plas y Brenin started out as a Mail Coach Inn in 1801 (Lord Penrhyn)
  • Best Thing – Getting round to uploading ski trip photos from Feb!
  • Work Highlight – The Peahen was caught!
  • Best Outdoor – First journey on my new road bike

Summary: Nottingham for the first half of the week, thereafter sunny days/evenings walking/riding around the mountains

Monday – Thursday A visit home – haven’t seen the folks for a while so it was nice to have a trip to Nottingham. Things I got done…

  • Watched TV! The Apprentice, Top Gear, Ice Age 3
  • Played with the AppleTV/stabilised the home network/upgraded machines to Mac OS X Lion!
  • Got my D4 medical done for provisional D1 driving license
  • Played a round of Golf with Dad
Friday – The road bike arrived, exciting times! A day at reception meant at least the evening off to whizz over and down the pass and back – it rides well! More on the bike later…
A less-than-subtle two-wheeled delivery at reception!

Saturday – Lie in (9am) Quick breakfast, then having promised to support Mark & Miles on their Welsh 3000ers quest I bombed it out of the centre over Y Foel Goch to gain Glyder Fach where after 2 circuits of Castell y Gwynt I found Mark sneaking up onto Glyder Fach summit. Obligatory Brenin flapjack sharing and off down Bristly screes and over Tryfan where I left them to head West to Ogwen Cottage. I bounced down the North Ridge, bumping into a Brenin team at Tryfan Bach, and ran back to the Brenin via the Llugwy Leat.

Sunday – Reception shift – more Facebook uploads, sport climbing script revision (BMC Rock Essentials filming on Tuesday), and some online D1 driving license mock-theory test questions.

Another bike ride on a glorious Sunday evening over the Llanberis Pass -> Mynydd Llandygai -> Bethesda -> A5 and back  made for a cracking end to the week. Bike tuning coming along well 😉
