Was the weather going to play along, were we going to have a driver?

Bar the slight worries beforehand this “dawn walk” turned out to be a real once in a (University) lifetime experience. Setting out at 02:30 from the SU we set off from Pen y Pass up the Pyg Track in beautifully clear conditions with a full moon rendering our headtorches useless!

The photos don’t capture the breathtaking views we were presented with en route, only those that were there shared those delights. We timed our summitting perfectly with cameras ready to snap away the various stages of the sun appearing over the horizon. We could even see all the way to the Kinder Scout Plateau and parts of the Lakes with the atmosphere so clear…

Roll on the next night hike!
