Finished! Tomorrow we will be heading back towards Bergen for another nights camping before the flight home, thus this will be the last photo update from Norway 2009. The past few days have seen groups move ever quickly up the highest peaks with all completing Skala – 1800+m and some new routes in a neighbouring valley.

Photo Update 4

The final day of walking was a success, and we’ve also indulged in a fjord cruise and touristy drive on one of the days here at Sande Camping. The Explorer Scouts have also taken it in turns to hold the camera so watch out for the more varied content.

34th Nottingham Scouts, Norway 2009 Expedition – Update 4 [30 07 09]

Tomorrow is a big day – all 3 groups will be attempting Lodalskappa (2000+m), the highest peak in western Norway. However, so far the groups have had two quality mountain days and a lovely day sightseeing - a Fjord cruise on the Geiranger Fjord and a drive up to 1500m to a spectacular viewpoint.

Photo Update 3

The group is now at base camp 2, Sande Camping near Loen. Arrival was sunny and all the groups had a pleasurable day out on Arheimsfjellet on Friday. Unfortunately the weather didn’t play along for the attempts on Lodalskappa yesterday, the highest peak in western Norway, however the rest day today promises sun for the Fjord cruise and otherwise scenic tour.

34th Nottingham Scouts, Norway 2009 Expedition – Update 3 [26 07 09]

Tomorrow we’re moving camp to Sande Camping! Today the weather was fairer still (?) with all groups experiencing some element of sunshine. The third and final glacier training group had some lovely views from the ice and the other groups completed their routes faster and further.

In the evening it rained (for a change!) again, however, fingers crossed for a fantastic week 2!

It’s rained a fair deal so far, however, it hasn’t stopped the groups achieving their daily goals…

Most importantly, all the groups have completed their glacier training day in order that they may successfully attempt the highest peak in western Norway, ‘Lodalskappa’, next week.
